This Privacy Policy explains how Cody1 ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the StarBoxed iOS application ("App") and our website at https://starboxed.co.uk ("Website").

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Contact form (Website only): name, email address, subject, and message content when you contact us.
• Game Center display name: if you sign in to Game Center, Apple may provide a player display name shown on leaderboards.

Information collected automatically in the App

• Gameplay and progress data: puzzle completion status, times, hints used, streaks, achievements, settings, and archive history stored locally on your device (UserDefaults).
• Device and usage data for advertising: through Google AdMob, including device identifiers, IP address, ad interaction data, and app usage information.
• App Tracking Transparency (ATT): on supported devices, we may request permission to use your device identifier for personalised advertising. You can decline without losing access to the App.
• SKAdNetwork data: Apple may share aggregated attribution data with advertising partners listed in our App configuration.
• Notification preferences: if you enable daily reminders, we store your opt-in locally and schedule local notifications on your device.

Information we do not collect

• We do not require you to create an account with us.
• We do not knowingly collect payment information — the App is free and contains no in-app purchases.
• iCloud Key-Value Store sync is currently disabled for StarBoxed.

2. How we use information

• Provide, operate, and improve the App and Website.
• Save your puzzle progress, streaks, settings, and archive locally on your device.
• Display leaderboard rankings via Apple Game Center.
• Deliver and measure advertising through Google AdMob.
• Respond to support requests and privacy enquiries.
• Send optional daily puzzle reminders if you opt in.

3. Lawful bases (UK GDPR)

Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following lawful bases:

• Contract / service delivery: to provide the App and respond to your requests.
• Legitimate interests: to improve our services, prevent abuse, and display non-personalised or permitted advertising.
• Consent: for personalised advertising (via ATT), optional push notifications, and contact form submissions.
• Legal obligation: where we must comply with applicable law.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third parties who may process data under their own privacy policies:

• Google AdMob — advertising. Google Privacy Policy
• Apple Game Center — leaderboards and player identity. Apple Privacy Policy
• Apple Push Notification service — optional daily reminders.
• Cloudflare — Website hosting, security (Turnstile), and contact form processing.
• Resend — email delivery for contact form messages.

5. Advertising

StarBoxed is supported by banner and rewarded video advertisements served by Google AdMob. Rewarded ads are optional and used only when you choose to receive a hint. We do not offer a paid ad-removal option.

You can limit ad tracking through your device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on iOS) and through your Apple advertising preferences.

6. Data retention

• Local App data: retained on your device until you delete the App or reset app data.
• Game Center data: retained according to Apple's policies.
• Contact form messages: retained for up to 24 months unless a longer period is required for legal or support purposes.
• Server logs (Website): retained by Cloudflare according to their standard retention practices.

7. International transfers

Some third-party providers (including Google and Cloudflare) may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where required, appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses are used by those providers.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you may have the right to:

• Access, rectify, or erase your personal data.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Data portability, where applicable.
• Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing).
• Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

9. Children's privacy

StarBoxed is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App where appropriate.
